Becoming the mate of Adam Hauptman—the charismatic Alpha of the local werewolf pack—has made her a stepmother to his daughter Jesse, a relationship that brings moments of blissful normalcy to Mercy’s life. But on the edges of humanity, what passes for a minor mishap on an ordinary day can turn into so much more…
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
After an accident in bumper-to-bumper traffic, Mercy and Jesse can’t reach Adam—or anyone else in the pack for that matter. They’ve all been abducted.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Through their mating bond, all Mercy knows is that Adam is angry and in pain. With the werewolves fighting a political battle to gain acceptance from the public, Mercy fears Adam’s disappearance may be related—and that he and the pack are in serious danger. Outclassed and on her own, Mercy may be forced to seek assistance from any ally she can get, no matter how unlikely.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
My Review: </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So I liked it but honestly it was not one of my favorite Mercy books. It was a good story and an easy read but it was also easy to put down. I've read virtually everything Patricia Briggs has written and for me when I compare this to her others works like Silver Borne and The Hob's Bargain it just didn't compete. That isn't to say it wasn't great, I just expect more when I read her books.
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'm still a bit bummed that Stephan isn't back to his old self and I honestly don't get what the heck was going on with Wulfe but I think that was the point. I'm not sure why but this story line just didn't grab me. When compared to a lot of other books its great. When compared to other Briggs books its only O-kay. It's still definitely worth reading especially if you are a Mercy Thompson fan and it is worth buying I was just a little disappointed because I have such high standards for this series and honestly the way Adam got free didn't do it for me. I didn't like that the bad-ish guys kind of became good-ish guys. I couldn't wrap my head around it.
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And I think the biggest bummer for me was that there was this expectation that it would deal with the aftermath of Fair Game and it didn't really do that. A lot happened in this book that had the potential to leave me at the edge of my seat but there was a bit of a disconnect. I never really got to 'feel' the emotional roller coaster that Mercy was put through in this book. I am crazy obsessed over the cover though. This is my favorite Mercy cover thus far.
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am of course still looking forward to the next book, I mean..who wouldn't right? Its Mercy!
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My Rating: I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. Again it was good, worth buying and I did enjoy reading it but I wouldn't re-read it so it gets a 4 in my book.</div>
